Being a beginner at something is often seen as a handicap. Certainly, many of the people who are actually beginners seem to think so. Every day, we get a large number of letters from investors asking for our advice and opinions about their investments. If I was to classify these letters between simple questions that pertain to the basics of investments and complex ones that address some esoteric point, then the simple categories are much larger.
Clearly, a much larger number of people would like to know the basics first. What is the difference between a closed-end fund and an open-ended fund? What do the different categories mean? Which category is most suitable for me? Which type of fund should I first invest in? How much should I invest to get an X amount in ten years' time?
These are some of the basic questions that we'd all like straightforward answers to. Most importantly, we need to understand the 'why' and 'how' of the answers. We don't want spoonfeeding, we want our own knowledge to be enhanced so that we can figure out the answers ourselves later.
The Beginner's Guide to Investing With Confidence is the perfect book for this. The book covers a wide range of topics that cover every aspect of investing. These are the sections in the book:
There are a set of topics under each one that cover all its aspects. You can order the book, and also check out the detailed Table of Contents at http://vro.in/bg
